About the project

|

Originally built by Alfred Chitty in 1889, “Tilted Afton” was converted into flats in 1921. Now under a single ownership, our client has set about restoring the home to its former glory.

The restoration of this striking home in Armadale will see it designed for better use of indoor and outdoor space, adding a wing to the north, opening out into a courtyard, pool, and garage gym beyond. A large garden across two levels will be integrated as part of this modern, light-filled addition to the building’s rear. The adaptation will serve to complement the existing space, taking cues from the existing dwelling and reinterpreting in a modern context.

Titled Afton the house was built by Alfred Chitty in 1889 and then converted into flats in 1921. The plan is to restore the home to its former glory, adding a wing to the north which opens out to a huge courtyard garden, pool and garage gym beyond.
