About the project

|

Tucked away in regional Victoria, we are working with our client to realise their passion for bringing a series of underground, short-stay, luxury eco units into reality. Taylor Knights were chosen from a range of architectural firms, both large and small, and were short-listed for the proposed development.

The clients have extensive knowledge in zero footprint systems and their aim for this exciting project is to promote the huge environmental benefits of underground living within a region where temperatures range from minus five degrees in winter to the forties in summer

During their stay, guests can fully embrace the wide range of zero footprint sustainability systems and products within each unit and across the operational farm as a whole. Each underground unit will be completely self-sufficient in its power, bio-gas, water and waste processing.

Autonomous organic fresh food production will be provided at each unit for guests to eat during their stay. On arrival, guests will discover a complimentary gourmet vegetarian meal and local wine will be supplied by the owners to help them relax from the very moment they put down their bags and take in the majestic mountain views.

To further enhance the project's minimal footprint, it is intended that guests will park their vehicles within a proposed undercover area near the entrance to the farm.  They will then transfer their luggage to an electric cart dedicated to their unit for use to move about the farm during their stay.

Other Initiatives for Wider Eco Benefits

|

Guests will be able to plant trees on the property during their stay as carbon off-sets for their own activities. These trees, their locations and carbon sequestration will be tracked for guests over time using software developed by the owners.

Guided tours of the technologies guests have used in their Eco Unit will be offered during their stay, helping them to deploy chosen technologies in their own homes to transition to greater sustainability.

A range of models and types of electric cars will be available to guests to use for touring the Shire for leisure activities.  Guests would then experience the ease and benefits of zero emission vehicles, overcoming common concerns such as "range anxiety" for rural travel and cost versus the benefits that electric cars deliver.
